Simple, Easy, Healthy Breakfasts for the Work Week

Tomorrow is Monday and there is nothing more important than planning breakfasts for the whole week.  Make oatmeal a regular on your breakfast table because it is inexpensive, easy to make and has many health benefits.  Oatmeal consumption has been associated with lowering cholesterol, increasing gastrointestinal motility, improving mood, skin and even libido.

Here is a basic oatmeal recipe and then you can experiment with its variations by adding many different toppings to taste.  As work week goes on and you start running out of ingredients, post your Sunday grocery shopping venture, making basic oatmeal plus adding flax seed oil and a scoop of protein powder would work well for an easy, tasty and healthy breakfast option.

Basic Oatmeal: Every day for a week soak steel cut oats in water overnight.  Cook on low heat in the morning (takes about 5 minutes) until slightly boiling.  Stir frequently. Vary suggested recipes as desired–like adding milk or almond milk for smooth consistency.

Day 1:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it breaks the fast of the night and fuels your mind/body/soul (as it is a comfort food too) during the beginning of the day.  Don’t use shortage of time excuse to skip it–it is the worst thing you can do for your health.  Oatmeal is the simplest, easiest and the healthiest way to start a day for the whole family.  By eating breakfast each day you can assure to be healthy, happy and well…simply, easily and in no time at all 🙂
